The Playoffs Explaned

Top three teams from each division qualify for playoffs.

Tiebreakers are:

1) Win percentage
2) Head-to-head (not aggregate points)
3) Division record
4) Net points per games played (not including forfeited games for or against)
5) Points scored per games played (not including forfeited games for or against)

Playoff scenarios as follows:

Three teams go through from each division, meaning 12 teams qualify for the Northern playoff tournament, and 12 for the Southern event. The tournament consists of three rounds – divisional, conference and regional. Two teams qualify for Britbowl from each tournament.

The team with the best record in the region (that’s both conferences – HNC and MEC, for example) gets a bye all the way to the third (regional) round. The team with the second best record in the two conferences gets a bye to the second (conference) round.

So, the playoffs will look like this, using the Northern Playoffs as an example.

Divisional

#2 MEC v #6 HNC
#2 HNC v #6 MEC
#4 HNC v #4 MEC
#3 HNC v #5 MEC
#3 MEC v #5 HNC

Conference round

#1 conference v lowest remaining team
#2 ranked team remaining v #5 ranked team remaining
#3 ranked team remaining v #4 ranked team remaining

Regional round

#1 overall v lowest remaining team
#2 ranked v #3 ranked

TWO WINNERS FROM EACH CONFERENCE GO ON TO BRITBOWL
