Broncos Prepare for Game Day 4

Sunday 25th June
The Broncos will host the Carnegie Steelers and Dunbeth Dragons at Whitecross.
While the Broncos have secured the HNC Central Division, both of these teams will be keen to win their games in order to secure their place at the Northern Regional Finals.
At the moment the Steelers have the upper hand with a half game advantage, but the Dragons came out on top in their last encounter (31 – 20).
The Broncos on the other hand need to win both of their games if they are to keep in with a chance of hosting the Regional Finals. At this stage the opportunity to host the regional finals is an outside one, but if the Broncos can keep winning, it is possible.

The games on the 25th will start at 11:00, with the Broncos playing the Dragons first. In their last match-up the Broncos won comfortably 48 – 6. The Dragons will definitely be hoping for revenge, but even though there will be a few Broncos missing the starters are all fit and available.

The second game of the day, scheduled for 12:15, will be the Broncos against the Steelers. Again, the Broncos won the first encounter comfortably, but still cannot afford to be complacent.

The final game between the Steelers and the Dragons will kick off at 13:30. Last year, this was the final game of the regular season with the prize a trip to the Regional Finals. The Dragons took that. This year, the match is no less critical for both teams even though they will both have a further two games each. Based on current form, the Steelers have the much more difficult end to the regular season with games against the Comets and Oilcats, while the Dragons have the easier run in against the Sabers and Spartans.
If the Dragons were to win or tie the encounter, the Steelers would have to win their final two matches against the Oilcats and Comets AND hope for a Dragons loss to either the Sabers or the Spartans.
A Steelers win would keep them in the hunt, but would still require them to win another game or a Dragons loss.

After the games are done and the field is cleared, the Broncos will be heading for the Canalside Pub and Grill for some re-hydration therapy.
