Coach Mooney Announces Interim Colts Coaching Staff

The Grangemouth Colts Head Coach has announced some of his coaching staff for the run up to the 2018 Div 1 League season.
As the Colts prepare for their first season in the BAFA Leagues, David Mooney has named the players he hopes will get the Colts ready for the challenges that lie ahead of them.
For the moment, the appointments are “interim” because there are still decisions to be made on who will be a Bronco and who will be a Colt for the 2018 season.
Daniel McGill has been appointed Assistant to the Head Coach. Daniel has been at the club since 2012, rarely missing a game. In fact Daniel currently sits at number 4 in the all time Senior Games played rankings. Daniel is so keen to play that he travels regularly to tournaments on the off-chance of getting a game with teams short of players. Daniel’s experience makes him a good choice to assist Coach Mooney with the development of the team.

Andy Brown has been named Offensive Coordinator. As a new team with a rookie quarterback it is really important that the offensive playbook grows at the same rate as the quarterback’s experience. That makes Broony a good choice for the role.

2017 Kelpie Award Winner

Billy Corner will be Coach Mooney’s Defensive Coordinator. Billy has been around the club since at least 2013. At the Broncos 2017 Awards Night Billy won the Kelpie Award in recognition for the change in his commitment to the Club over the past twelve months. He has been listening to the advice offered and acting on it. As a result he has become a better player. Coach Mooney will be hoping that the responsibility of a Coaching position will mean Billy continues to build on his recent performances.

Underpinning all of this will be Club Development Coach Steven Cliffe. Steven has been at the Club since 2015 and is another player who has racked up the number of games since joining. Steven gained his coaching qualification a couple of years ago. As Club Development Coach he will be working closely with Andy and Billy to help them in their new roles.
