Congratulations to Fraser Thomson, Callum Woods and Kevin Woods on their success last weekend at the European Championships in Copenhagen.
Both GB Lions teams, the Men and the Women brought home Bronze Medals in their respective competitions.
This is the first time the Ladies team have won medals. They won three out of their four games at the weekend and only lost out on points difference to go into the Gold/Silver game. Great result beating the number one seeds, Israel.
Going into the weekend, the GB Men were looking good for a medal position, but with their first choice QB dropping out at the last minute due to family issues there was concern that the weekend could be an anticlimax.
Beating Norway in the first game was kind of expected. Playing Sweden, they were literally centimeters from the win. Denmark was always going to be a tough ask, even with a full strength team. Against Israel, they had a fantastic second half, but couldn’t overhaul the first half deficit.
That meant playing Sweden again in the Bronze medal game. Both teams seemed nervous and GB were down at the half. But, again, they had a good second half and took the win for the medals. Great result.
