Chieftains Aim to Defend Their Title

This weekend, the top flag players from all over the UK will be playing in the Super 5s Tournament in Glasgow.
The competition will be a round robin of games between teams from each of the four BAFA Flag League Conferences.
The SEC Capitals (South East Conference) will include players from the Reading Knights, Victoria Park Panthers and Aylsbury Vale Spartans.
The SWC Dragons (South West Conference) will include Birmingham Lions, Cardiff Hurricanes, Coventry Cougars and Exeter Falcons players.
The MEC Crusaders (Midlands/North of England) players will come from the Burnley Tornadoes, Calderdale Knights, Cheshire Cavaliers, Leeds Samurai, Manchester Crows, Newcastle Blackhawks, Sheffield Vipers and Wigan Bandits.
The HNC Chieftains (Highland North Conference) players will be from the Aberdeen Oilcats, Clyde Comets, Edinburgh Outlaws, Glasgow Hornets and Grangemouth Broncos.
The Broncos players included in the squad are, Callum Woods, Fraser Thomson, Kevin Woods, Liam Fleming and Scott McKenzie.

Broncos Super 5s Winners in March

The same five were included in the Chieftains team earlier this year when BAFA organised a trial run of this tournament in Manchester. That tournament saw the Chieftains win all three of their games to take the crown. Having won, the Chieftains were asked to host the November tournament.
The plan for the future is to hold this event each November, after the Flag league season is done and most of the annual tournaments have been completed. The hope is that, given the time of year the event will be hosted indoors.
The action kicks off this weekend at 11:00 at Toryglen Regional Sports Centre in Glasgow. Games will be played over two pitches with three sets of two games, 11:00, 13:15 and 14:30. The Trophy presentation is scheduled for 15:30.
Entry is free to spectators, and it is indoors, so no worry about the weather. Come along and see what Flag Football is all about.
As a consequence, there will be no Flag Practice this weekend (Saturday 11th Nov) for the Broncos or the Colts.
